Functionality of Swout®
The ventilation shirt activates the body´s own cooling system. The air is actively moved between skin and insulating layer and absorbs on its way alongside the body humidity and warmth. A particularly positive effect is given by one separate air inlet and one outlet air duct and the air led alongside the body gets well-directed in contact with the relevant heat and sweat spots.
Evidence of Functionality
Laboratory tests mostly show unrealistic values, as the surrounding and the weather conditions are not taken into account in interaction with the dynamic moves of the users. Therefore, we realised an innovative possibility to conduct dynamic tests in actual surroundings.
The sensorshirt, which we developed specifically for this purpose shows the exact temperature and humidity data. The respective warmth and humidity points are exactly identified and pictured three-dimensionally. In addition, two sensors record the respective data of the surrounding as reference temperature, which are analysed afterwards with a computer unit.
Body climate without using the ventilation shirt

Swout® is not yet switched on, you can easily identify the red heat areas with temperatures between 35°C and 40°C. Humidity is between 70% and 100%.
Changes of body climate by using the ventilation shirt
Picture: Temperature Picture: Humidity
Swout® is turned on and definitely generates a cooling effect. The colour changes and the low values are clearly visible in both pictures. The temperature decreases from approx. 40°C to 20°C/25°C. Humidity reduces from over 70 % to 40 % up to 60 %.
Furthermore, an EMPA study proved the effectiveness of our ventilation shirt Swout® with integrated breathable membrane (composition see underline; sweat tests No. 0448037 and 0448491).
The chart evidently shows that the clothing layers of the reference chlothes (Set 2) must take considerably more condensate under the same conditions compared to using Swout (Set 1). Also the skin bears almost twice the amount of humidity. Consequently, the evaporation when using the ventilation shirt is almost double. Set 2 and 3 prove that the values do not change strikingly with increasing temperature respectively room moisture when using Swout. The skin humidity increase, indeed, but the storage of condensate in the clothes does not. Thus, a significantly greater wearing comfort can be attained definitely.
EMPA Conclusion: In general, the use of the ventilation shirt is considered positive. Due to the increased removal of heat and moisture, the shirt provides a perceptible improvement of the wearing comfort.
We would be glad to have you tested our ventilation shirt. Just contact us – the Hexonia team will be at your disposal for presenting the system.
